Derek Townsley faces up to a month on the sidelines following his head knock at the weekend.  Townsley was unconscious for several minutes and was left with a broken nose and severe facial bruising after an accidental clash with Hearts' Kevin McKenna.  Speaking yesterday, Billy Davies said:
"Big Derek's going to be out for a few weeks.  He has concussion so we need to be careful with him. Derek can't remember a single thing about what happened. In fact his only memory is waking up in hospital after the game. I told him that he's never looked better. It wouldn't be hard with the big nose he's got!"

Motherwell coach John Philliben was at Starks Park last night, apparently to watch Raith Rovers' duo Jay Stein and Samuel Monin.  Stein is a left sided winger who recently had a trial spell with Milwall, while Monin is a goalkeeper.

There are unconfirmed reports that we will be playing Norwich City in a pre-season friendly at Fir Park on July 21.

Motherwell are playing Dalziel High School FPs tomorrow morning to mark the opening of the new stadium at Dalziel Park (formerly Cleland Estate).  The stadium is being opened by Princess Anne and anyone who is interested in going should be there for 10am.  The players will have a brief training session before the match against Dalziel FPs.  Despite being a former pupil of Dalziel myself, anyone who has seen me play football will understand why I don't turn out for the FPs!

Early team news ahead of Saturday's game with St Johnstone.  Derek Townsley and Kevin Twaddle are both injured but Benito Kemble is expected to return.  Paul Harvey, who has been out for five months with a back injury, could find himself in the starting line-up after being on the bench against Hearts.
