Don't worry, I'm still here.  There are two reasons why the site hasn't been updated in almost two weeks:

  1. I was in Berlin last week (very interesting city btw)

  2. I've completely lost interest in anything Motherwell FC related as far as this season is concerned

Hopefully I'll be a bit more enthusiastic about things after the summer, but at the moment the end of the season can't come soon enough, and I must admit I'm thinking long and hard about whether or not to renew my season ticket.

Anyway, here's a wee pic of me at the very impressive Olympic Stadium in Berlin...

Berlin

While I was in sunny Germany, Motherwell lost their first post-split fixture 2-0 at Inverness, and by all accounts we were absolutely garbage and deserved all we got.   You can read Ricky's match report here, and here's what Maurice Malpas had to say afterwards:
"I have to apologise to the fans, it's a long distance to come for a performance like that.  The players have to look at themselves in the mirror, they let themselves down, let the club down and the supporters too.  I can handle getting beat if the attitude is right but not like that. We were insipid, we had no urgency at all and for once I'm embarrassed to be a manager.  I have an honest bunch of players but they did not turn up today - it was imposters who turned up.  It's the worst performance since I came to the club. I was disgusted by it. If the youth team put in a performance like that I would get rid of them.  Unless Paul Hegarty can persuade me otherwise those players will be playing for the reserves next midweek."

Looks like Malpas was talking guff, as the team for Tuesday's reserve game with Kilmarnock was as follows:
Meldrum, Quinn, D. Murphy, Connolly, McLean (Donnelly), Kinniburgh (Murray), D. Smith, Fitzpatrick, McCormack, J. Murphy (Coakley), Molloy.
Subs not used: Martin, Forbes

The match, the reserve side's last of the season, ended in an uneventful 0-0 drawn which means a third place finish in the league.

Apparently there are three trialists at Fir Park this week:

  • Danny Severino, an Australian formerly with Millwall, Piacenza and a couple of Swedish teams who can play upfront or in midfield.  Barnet and Aldershot are also supposed to be interested in him.
  • Scott Agnew, a 19-year-old midfielder currently with Hamilton Accies
  • Jamie McClen (remember him?), the midfielder we had on-loan from Newcastle a few years back who has just been released by Hamilton Accies.

Sorry to sound negative, but are guys like this really the best we can do?

Scott McDonald has been named in the SPFA team of the 2006/07 season.

Although there's been no official announcement yet, it seems that Brian Kerr passed a medical at Easter Road this afternoon and has signed a two-year deal with Hibs on a pre-contract agreement.

No great loss, eh?

The club will be holding an open day on Sunday, May 13 which will feature the launch of the new strip.

Our last game of the season, against Dundee Utd at Tannadice on Saturday, May 19, will now kick off at 12.30pm for some strange reason.

Here's the latest on the Krisztian Vadocz contract situation from MM:
"It has still been difficult dealing with Auxerre but we are talking to them through his agent and we are waiting for an answer. Their season finishes after ours but I hope to get an answer before our season finishes.  He is one I am desperate to keep as he has proved he has ability, he has enjoyed his time in Scotland so hopefully we can do something with Auxerre. This could either be a longer loan or a permanent move if we can come to an agreement.  He is the type of player that we could keep for a couple of years and let him grow as a player before he would inevitably move on."

Ricky's report of the Celtic game at the start of April is also now available.  Sincere apologies for the delay!
