It was Roberto Martinez 's turn to appear at the weekly Fir Park press conference, and he used the opportunity to dismiss any talk of relegation.  He said:
"It is ridiculous to talk of relegation pressure this soon there are 38 games to be played and this is only the fourth one. We have got a great chance to win on Saturday, that’s not just because it is Aberdeen. I would say the same whoever we were playing this week. Whether its Aberdeen or Hibs or whoever I think we are capable of winning if we all play our best.  Hopefully the fans will see the best from me very soon, they certainly will not see any lack of effort. I am far more interested however in the performance of the team over my own personal performances.  Again as I have said before we have a lot of good youngsters waiting to come through here. The roof of what we can achieve is very high as there is not a great difference between most of the teams in the SPL."

“Since pre-season we have accumulated much new knowledge about each other and it’s just a matter of time before we produce a hundred percent of what we are capable of. Every day it is gelling a little bit better, however, it is a difficult job for a manager to blend seven or eight new guys. We are enjoying it and because of the type of people in that dressing room I myself have enjoyed it a great deal. They are good characters and strong characters so there has been no difficulty in learning the names.”

Roberto was then asked about the difference between Scottish and English football, and he replied:
"As I have said before all leagues throughout Europe are different. There are many positive things in Scottish football and I think the players and the fans should both take a lot of joy out of it. The skill is there but there is also a big physical side to the game, you must have and use both. Because of the mixture of players we have here I am sure we will do well as the season progresses under these circumstances.

"The people of Motherwell in general have impressed me, they have made me feel very welcome and made me feel very at home. The Scottish people are very nice."

Roberto has even offered to help his manager look for player abroad:
“I would happily help the manager if he ever needed it, I follow football very closely and spend about 75% of my time after training watching football. So if he ever needs information he knows where I am."

Billy Davies then gave his weekly update on the injury situation:
"A couple of lads have slight knocks but nothing serious. There are no major worries and everyone should be available.

"I am quite happy with how the lads have started the season but we still need one or two players to come in. We are still looking at Tarrant, but another striker as well as him maybe necessary. We may not have to move immediately but will just see how others come on.

"Having Stuart Elliott carrying an ankle knock over the last few weeks has made it difficult so I have had to keep him on the bench at times."

BD was then asked about Kevin Twaddle's contribution for the two goals against Kilmarnock last week, to which he replied:
“Those were two fine crosses but Kevin like others still have a lot of hard work to do and improvements to make over the next few months. I am sure he can and will do much more along with the youngsters who will come in and who are also improving.

"More than anything else I want us to get our sleeves rolled up and get down to quietly working at it over the next few months. The boys are working hard and understanding each other better as time goes by and hopefully over the next four or five games we will pick up a few wins.”

Full details of the press conference are available from the Official MFC Site.

Local press reports suggest that Greg Strong is a doubt for Saturday's match at Pittodrie after he was stretchered to hospital on Sunday night with a neck knock.  He was hoping to resume light training yesterday.

Former Aberdeen player Andy Dow is looking forward to Saturday's trip to Pittodrie.  He said:
"I'm not apprehensive at all about going back to Pittodrie. It's the game I looked for in the fixture list after I signed for Motherwell.  Plenty of fans stopped me last season to ask what I had done to deserve being left out of the side, and then transfer listed, and I told them they had to ask the manager as it was him who picked the team.  I am looking forward to Saturday, and I am hoping I get a nice reception from The Dons' fans, and if I do, I will acknowledge it."
