Our top scorer, David Kelly, was present at this afternoon's press conference, and was asked about his goal last week against Aberdeen:
“Both the goals against Aberdeen were good goals and both of them were straight from the training ground. It was pleasing they way they were organised but obviously the gloss was removed by the result. There is a slight concern that we haven’t picked up three points yet, but we have been exceptional in periods of the games as well as awful in others.

"We have been weaker in the second half of each game but I don’t know why. I feel as fit as I have ever felt, we train hard and work hard so I am sure it will turn round soon. The good thing about football is that the games come round quickly and you can put it right in the next week.

"Some teams have had super starts, but a win on Saturday will make our start look reasonably good. For example Livingston, if we beat them we will be on level points with them and everyone has been saying how well they have started.”

He was then asked about differences between English and Scottish football, to which he replied:
“The game here is quicker and there is a higher tempo throughout the ninety minutes. Down South you get a little more time on the ball and you aren’t closed down as quickly. The training mentality has been different too, at Sheffield it was slower building up during the week. Up here we have worked very hard and the training functions are much more match related. I suppose every coach is different, all I care about is that some of the things we work on in training continue to happen on a Saturday afternoon. I think I have done OK and adapted to the pace quite well. I didn’t play well against Kilmarnock but I have got a lot to learn about the game in Scotland.”

"For one thing I don’t know the players I play against each week and for another I don’t know the referees. I like to converse with referees during a game in fact I like to communicate all the time.

"I settled in amazingly well and amazingly quickly. I love it here, I have a little flat in Hamilton and the players in here are just great. I find footballers are the same wherever you go, slagging each other all the time, the only difference here is that I sometimes find it difficult to pick up the accents. I mean, when Martyn Corrigan talks to his friends he could be talking Swahili.“

Full details of the press conference are available from the Official MFC Site.

Former 'Well goalie Andy Goram has signed a one-month contract with English First Division side Coventry City.

Speaking in today's Motherwell Times, Pat Nevin admits that we will need to tighten up our defence, which has conceded more goals than any other SPL side so far:
"We're scoring enough goals, especially away from home, but the number of goals we're losing is obviously a concern.  It's something which the manager has been looking at in training this week to try and address."

Nevin also revealed that Kevin Twaddle could be fit for Saturday's match against Livingston, after it was discovered that the injury he sustained at Pittodrie wasn't as bad as was first thought.
