Wondering why the Fir Park pitch is so bad?  Well, apparently it's partly because vandals broke-in one night and poured weedkiller on it!  Our groundsman, Gus Hollas (who apparently joined us from Kilmarnock in the summer), is quoted as saying:
"The pitch wasn't in the best condition before, but then vandals broke in two weeks ago and poured weedkiller on it. We have re-seeded parts and are constantly working on the surface. I'm putting in new drains on both sides of the park, as well, to help out. It is tightly compacted at the moment, which means water is sitting on the top, so there's not much chance for any drainage, but we're working on that problem now."

"People have been having a go at the pitch, but they don't know the full story. Motherwell are doing everything in their power to create a surface for all teams in the SPL and outside to play on without any problem. We're doing our best to create a playing surface that's the equal to the best in Scotland."
