It appears as though Bayer Leverkusen have not dropped their interest in James McFadden, despite reports to the contrary earlier in the week. Faddy's agent is quoted as saying:
"It is not true to say that Bayer have pulled out. They are still showing an interest and have not gone away. They are definitely not out of the running. The situation is that they have not made a bid and I think the lines have been crossed. The only bid to come in for him has been from Preston and it is believed to be £200,000, which is derisory. He is worth much more than that."

Motherwell have rejected an "insulting" offer for James McFadden from Preston manager Craig Brown, believed to be in the region of £200,000.  Terry Butcher blasted:
"It was derisory and it was insulting and it was well below any valuation that we put on James, which I don't want to divulge obviously," Butcher said yesterday. "It was a complete waste of time. So we've had one offer which wasn't worth the paper it was written on.  It could have been from the Conference, or from the lower leagues as far as we were concerned because the money wasn't anywhere near what we'd even think about."

However, Preston boss Craig Brown insisted that the English First Division side were still awaiting an official response:
"It seems strange to call it unacceptable when it is the only that has been put in for the player.  How many bids have they had?  We put a written offer in for McFadden on Wednesday after making an original enquiry a week ago.  We are awaiting an official response from Motherwell. If they are not accepting bids then fine, we'll look elsewhere."

"He's an exciting young player.  He was picked in the most recent Scottish Under-21 squad and I would describe him as an attacking forward player.  He's a typical Scottish player in the Archie Gemmill mould, somebody who will run at people and take them on. A real crowd-pleaser."

Motherwell's PA guy, who plays the music at Fir Park before and after the games and accounces the scores at half-time, is on the front cover of today's Sun.  It seems that James Russell, who is also a DJ for Clan FM, once took part in a porn film which included a three-in-a-bed romp.  The naughty boy!
