The draw for the 2nd round of the League Cup was made today, and surprise surprise was have ANOTHER away tie.  Motherwell will travel to face either Morton or Gretna on August 24 or 25.

Newspaper reports suggest that Canadian midfielder Jason Bent is currently on trial at Fir Park, and if TB decides against offering him a contract then he may well turn his attention to former trialist Jamie McClen.  Bent has turned out for Colorado Rapids, and was with Plymouth last season before being freed following a knee operation.

Today's Sun reports that John Boyle has split with his wife after 17 years of marriage.

This week's local press contains the following quote from TB regarding his new loan signing, Kevin McBride:
"We’re excited about it and think Kevin will be a good player for us — we’ve heard a lot about him since he played in the under-21 and youth leagues.  He’s a right-footed midfielder and plays mainly in the centre, which gives us a bit of competition there, and he can play on the right as well.  To be at Celtic at the age of 23, they must think really highly of you; he’s in the last year of his contract there and it’s a great opportunity for him and a chance for Celtic to have a look at him in first-team action."

Meanwhile, the Motherwell Times reports that Paul Quinn is still a few weeks away from first team action.

The Official Site has an interesting feature on Keith Lasley.
