Update from the Official Site.  The club will not be following up their interest in Ryan Dickson.

Ricky's report of the Aberdeen game is now available.

Looks like we could FINALLY be about to see some activity in the transfer market.  The BBC reports that:

  • We are set to sign Hearts striker Calum Elliot (19) on a six-month loan, despite interest from Dunfermline Athletic
  • This could lead to Jim Hamilton signing for the East End Park side
  • We have taken Plymouth Argyle left-back Ryan Dickson on trial.  The 19-year-old, who can also play in midfield, has made just three appearances for Plymouth.

Maurice Malpas is quoted as saying:
"Things are certainly looking up on the transfer front since the weekend and we are actively working on one or two things.  We have taken a look at Ryan and he comes highly recommended.  I have talked to two or three people who have spoken very highly of him and we will have a look at him in a closed-doors game.  We tried to get him in the summer, but we were told he wasn't available, but his situation has now changed.  The important thing is that he has to be better than what we have got."

It seems that the closed-door game that MM mentioned above took place this afternoon against touring United States Soccer Academy side Salem International at Dalziel Park, and resulted in a 9-1 win for Motherwell's Under-19 side.  Trialist Ryan Dickson played at left-back.

Reports suggest that Phil O'Donnell could be out for up to four months with an Achillies problem.

Stephen Craigan has been named in the Northern Ireland squad for their friendly in Finland tomorrow night.

Speaking to the Official Site, Graeme Smith had put his hands up and admitted being at fault for both of Aberdeen's goals on Saturday.

Time for a new opinion poll

Will we struggle to avoid relegation this season?
