Just back after a few days in Amsterdam (and before you ask, I was there with the wife and not as part of a lads' holiday), which meant I missed Motherwell's 3-2 win over Partick Thistle in the League Cup on Tuesday night.  Doesn't sound like the most convincing of victories, but I suppose given our start to the season we would have gladly taken ANY sort of win beforehand.

Anyway, you can read a full account of the game courtesy of Ricky's match report.  And here's a wee photo of me at the very impressive Amsterdam ArenA...

Ajax!

The draw for the next round of the League Cup will take place on Monday afternoon.

Graeme Smith has been named in the full Scotland squad for the forthcoming Euro 2008 matches against the Faroe Islands and Lithuania.  Meanwhile, Paul Quinn and Ross McCormack are in the Under-21 squad for the match against France on September 1.

Reports are linking us with Cork City left back Danny Murphy...

Dunfermline manager Jim Leishman has admitted that he's trying to sign Jim Hamilton.  He said:
"It is not rocket science that we are trying to get him but the ball is not at my foot.  I have to wait until somebody says 'yes you can'."

It seems that Motherwell may be prepared to release Hamilton if we can finally sign Hearts striker Calum Elliot on loan.  Yes, I'm afraid that saga is still ongoing, but today's Evening Times reports that Elliot will be in the squad for Saturday's trip to Falkirk.

Time for a new opinion poll

Will we struggle to avoid relegation this season?
