Andy Goram's agent says the chances of The Goalie staying at Fir
Park are "not good", although he is willing to go back into talks with
Pat Nevin. Goram's agent, Kenny Moyes, said:
"At the moment it would be hard for Motherwell to put
together a team with Andy Goram in it because of the way they have been forced
to slash their wage bill. And, although Andy would much prefer to stay at
Motherwell at this stage in his career, he must make what he feels is the right
move for him. There´s no doubt he´s still the best keeper in Scotland
outside the Old Firm - and how much would it cost Motherwell to replace Andy
with a goalkeeper of similar quality?"
Pat Nevin said:
"The offer we have made to Andy has been rejected, but
discussions are still going on and we will have to wait and see what happens.
Andy could sign for somebody outside Scotland from January 1, so that may not
necessarily be our final offer. We had wanted to speak to all the
out-of-contract players at the same time, but Andy and his agent were adamant
that we made an offer, and we did, although we did not have to."
The Under-21s won 2-1 against a strong Dundee United side at Tannadice last
night, thanks to goals from Jim McFadden and Martin Wood. The team
was:
Connolly, Kinniburgh (Fallon) Pearson, Ramsay, Dempsie, Wilson, Lasley, Wood, Nicholas,
McFadden, Clarke (Fagan).
