Derek Adams attended yesterday's press conference, and said: "It was important for me to get back but it was more important for us just to get a win. I am totally fit again and that last 20 minutes against Hearts felt good for me. We started against Hearts very well and could have been a few up at half time. I hope we perform as well on Saturday although I hope Andy Goram hasn’t got as much to do. He really was outstanding and when you see him making saves like those against Hearts it’s not surprising he was voted Scotland’s best ever goal keeper There are four games to go now before the break and we have to get ourselves into as good a position as possible. St Johnstone are an excellent team, they are sixth in the league and are playing very well. I hope my goal pushes me towards a start soon but that of course is the Manager’s decision. We are very close to St Johnstone in the league but I always treat each game the same, like the rest of the team we go out to win whoever it is. Yes if we beat St Johnstone it will close the gap but it will also close the gap on six others. My contract is up at the end of the season and I have to play well to get a new contract, that is up to the management team and I hope to talk to them soon. I would like to underline that I really want to stay at Motherwell". |

New contract? |
Billy Davies said:
"Don and Jamie McClen along with Paul Harvey will not be fit for Saturday but Benny Kemble might. I would like the players to give me more of the same next weekend and like myself they are looking forward to this one.
The away form has been decent but it is still going to be a very tough match. I don’t see any point in going away to defend, we are not that kind of team anyway. We are at our best attacking teams but we must defend well too because St Johnstone will have a go at us.
The youngster Parker has been playing well for them as have others and like ourselves they must promote youth. It is difficult though when it is as tight as it is now to put these youngsters in.
We have had good days and bad days at McDiarmid Park since I took over and I suppose the first day was not a particularly good one but we look forward rather than backwards and as I say look for the same performance as we had last week".
