Dundee showed no festive cheer whatsoever this afternoon when they thrashed us 3-0 at Fir Park.  We were forced into a number of changes from Saturday's win in Perth with McCulloch, Twaddle, Townsley all missing out through injury and Derek Adams suspended.  In their place came Elliott, Kemble, McLen and Nicholas.  We got off to the worst possible start when Sara put Dundee ahead after only 4 mins when our defence was completely caught out by a simple through ball.  Despite this setback, we went on to have the better of the first half without creating too many clear-cut opportunities.  However, Dundee made it 2-0 after 35 mins with probably only their second chance of the first half, when Rae finished off an excellent move by heading past Goram from close range.  The second half kicked-off in farcical circumstances, with heavy freezing fog making it virtually impossible to see what was going on.  Dundee were reduced to 10 men after 53 mins when Marocco was red-carded for his second bookable offence, but the sides were evened up a few mins later when Nicholas was sent-off for an off the ball incident involving Steven Tweed which saw the Dundee player booked.  This was probably Nicholas' sole contribution to the entire match.  Dundee killed the game when they added a third in 69 mins, and Motherwell seldom looked like grabbing a consolation.  This result simply emphasises the fact that whenever we lose a few key players through injury or suspension, we are a very ordinary side indeed.  Our stay in the top half of the table was short-lived, as this defeat sees Dundee leapfrog us into sixth place.

Stevie Hammell has denied racially abusing St Johnstone's Momo Sylla during Saturday's 3-2 win.  Sylla made no complaint, but the matter was brought to the attention of police by two or three home supporters.  Pat Nevin said:
"I have spoken to Steven and he categorically denies saying anything to the player.  He is seriously upset and shocked by what has been said."

Don't forget about the Internet Fans night out in Jack Daniels on Saturday!  We'll be there from around 7pm onwards.
