A few details from yesterday's press conference are now available from the Official Site:

Eric Black was asked if he thought the match would go ahead tomorrow:
"The pitch has been covered since the weekend and I am sure it will cope. We also have a warm air balloon, so the pitch is fine and it should be alright for the match."

Eric went on to say:
"I am delighted to announce that Stephen Pearson has signed a three-year contract with the club and we are very happy to have him on board.  There is a commitment at the club to try and keep young players and with a year to go on his contract it was good to get a new deal in place.

"We have some very good young players who are still developing and it is up to the coaches at the club to continue this process. Stephen came from a non-professional structure and it is enormous credit to him to be able to come in and play in the first team but obviously he will need to keep working and we need to work with him."

He was then asked about what he expected from Rangers tomorrow night:
"I was at the Rangers v Hibs game and it is difficult to say what Alex will do. He has a very good squad of players to chose from however our players showed their metal last week against Hibs and to their credit they got their rewards. It is good to have had a couple of results at home but it is important that we pick up points away as well. There have been a couple of games away where we should have taken something but then again there were others when we did not deserve anything.

"The team news is good in that we are clear of injuries at the present time. The trialists who have been in have not been able to take part in any games due to the weather so they are going back but hopefully they can come back again when more games can be arranged."

When asked about Patrick Pascal, Eric replied:
"We have not seen him. Next step would be for him to come over for a trial period."

Stephen Perason was also present at the press conference, and was asked about his contract extension:
"I am very happy to be signing a new three year deal with the club. I played with Netherdale U/18's before coming to Motherwell and it was when playing in a Cup Final for my school at Hampden that I was approached by Motherwell to come to Fir Park.

"I am learning with every match and hope to improve on the various aspects of my game by listening to the manager, coaches and senior players at the club."
