Motherwell and Rangers fought out an entertaining 2-2 draw in front of the SKY cameras at Fir Park tonight. It was a great performance from the lads, and we fully deserved a point against a very poor Rangers side. Right from the kick-off you could sense that the players were right up for the game, and we deservedly took the lead after 16 mins when Stuart Elliott's lay-off was blasted into the top corner by Keith Lasley. We continued to have the better of the half, and were very unlucky not to go 2-0 up when Klos instinctively saved from close range when it seemed certain that we would score. Then as half-time approached, Rangers equalised against the run of play when poor defending and an inability to clear the ball allowed Arveladze to score from close range. The fans were treated to some better than usual half-time entertainment courtesy of blonde singer Samantha Lee (although I don't think many of us were paying much attention to her singing), but when the second-half started it was the visitors who began to take a grip of the proceedings. However, when Rangers took the lead in 63 mins it was in a controversial manner, with the goal coming from a corner that clearly shouldn't have been awarded in the first place. That said, our defending (and goalkeeping) was once again poor as we allowed de Boer in to score. At this stage many 'Well fans might have feared that Rangers would go on to run out easy winners, but we hung on in there and got our reward in 79 mins when a Rangers' player handled in the box and David Kelly scored from the resulting penalty. Both teams had chances to win the game in the final 10 mins, with Konterman hitting the post late on, but the match finished 2-2. In injury time, Craig Moore was sent-off for a shocking challange on Keith Lasley that resulted in the Motherwell youngster being stretchered off. The ref saw fit to dismiss him for a second bookable offence, but it should have been a straight red. At the end of the day, a point against the Old Firm has to be regarded as an excellent result. Oh, and I had a quid on Keith Lasley to be first goalscorer at odds of 33/1, so I suppose it was a good night all round. Finally, special mention must go to Graeme Sanders, tonight's streaker from the East Stand!
