Outgoing Scotland boss has backed Eric Black to turn things around at Motherwell, despite a stuttering start to his managerial reign.  Brown said:
"Eric is a very good young coach. He's got every attribute a good coach needs, and it's hard to find any faults in Eric.  Eric was working with the SFA as community coach with Ross County, before we brought him down to our technical department in Glasgow, where I was working with him every day. His knowledge of the game is second to none.  He then absconded to Celtic, working with their youth players, and built on his reputation, then was later promoted to assistant manager.  He was a talented forward, and with Terry Butcher as his assistant, one of the best defenders we've seen in British football in recent years, they will turn things round.

"Eric has a good reputation for working with young players, and already at Motherwell he's been giving some of the younger guys their chance in the first team.  He's also got a lot of foreign contacts, but hopefully from a Scottish point of view, he'll be giving our own home grown players a chance rather than bringing in players from abroad."

It turns out that yet another trialist turned out for us in Monday's Under-21 game against Dunfermline - goalkeeper Francois Dubourdeau.  The only information we have on him is that he was born on 04/12/80 in Angoulême (Charente), France, he is 1.83 m tall and weights 78 kg. He had a contract with Bordeaux until the end of June but was then released.
