Motherwell have rejected a bid from Wigan for Ged Brannan.  The English second division side contacted the club earlier today and Brannan was told of their interest, but tonight Pat Nevin said:
"We rate Ged very highly here and we will to try to keep him at the club if we can. The offer was made and very quickly rejected, but the buying club behaved correctly throughout. Now Ged has to concentrate on playing well on Saturday against Killie. Being the pro he is, I'm sure he will put it to the back of his mind and continue to play as well as he has in the last number of games."

Speaking earlier today, Brannan said:
''I am still negotiating with Motherwell at the moment and I've just been told about Wigan's offer.  I will go home and have a chat with my girlfriend, and the fact that I have family down there doesn't have anything to do with the decision. I'll just have to think about it and we'll have to take it on from there. I'm still a Motherwell player at this moment so I am getting on with my game and looking forward to Saturday's game. I know if the club accepts the offer there is nothing I can do with that, but I haven't decided what to do yet.''

Billy Davies remains hopeful of keeping Ged at Fir Park.  He said:
''From the club's point of view I would like to keep Ged here with us so I'll try to keep him. Obviously he's a quality player - there's no doubt about it and Ged is a vital part of the team as far as I'm concerned. I'm still hopeful Ged will remain a Motherwell player until the end of the season at least. To be honest with you the decision whether to sell him or keep him is made upstairs, although I'm concerned about keeping players and also winning games.''

Dougie Arnott's testimonial will take place before the start of next season against Premiership opposition, with Sunderland favourites.

Despite Dunfermline's last minute equaliser last night, Billy Davies was full of praise for his team:
"A lot of people have been looking at our players and questioned their attitude and whether they would work hard when they came back after the winter break.  But in my opinion in the last two games they have been nothing short of outstanding in terms of effort and attitude and that's all you can ask for. Tonight I take my hat off to every single one of them.  There's no doubt we deserved to win the game. We created enough chances to do so and in the second half it should have been dead and buried.  But throughout the season you sometimes lose late goals - we've certainly scored a few ourselves - so we've just got to accept it and get on with it.  Right throughout the side we worked hard and I'm absolutely gutted for the players that they never took the three points."

"I'm delighted the way we've started after the winter break.  We worked very hard during it and now we've started the last two games very well. We've even changed the formation a bit and that has worked.  There's a long way to go between now and the cut off and there will be points dropped here and there but we'll just keep going."

Former Motherwell player Tommy Coyne has been sacked as manager of Clydebank.
