In today's local press, Eric Black looked back on Motherwell's match at Ibrox last week which saw Eric Deloumeaux red-carded.  Deloumeaux will now be suspended for the Hearts game a week on Saturday, and the 'Well boss was disappointed with the referee's decision to dismiss the defender:
"The red card for Eric was harsh, but even before that, the booking for his challenge on Arthur Numan wasn't warranted.  If you actually look at the replay Eric is trying to pull out of the challenge, just before Arthur lets his legs go and it actually makes it look worse.  And for the red card Peter Lovenkrands actually does very well to play for it as he knows the tackle from Eric is coming.  It's disappointing because it ended any chance we had of getting anything from the game, although all credit to the players for the appetite and hunger they showed after Eric was sent off."

Despite the 3-0 loss, Black refused to criticise his players too heavily, especially Keith Lasley who was at fault for Rangers' second goal:
"Obviously, I'm disappointed with the result as we went into the game full of confidence following the superb performance against Hibs the previous week.  However, if we highlighted every mistake players make on the park then we would be in the dressing room for a long time after every game.  These things happen and unfortunately for Keith he took a decision to try and play it back and it was the wrong one.  Keith has been superb for us in recent games, so no one is putting the blame on him and I'm sure he'll bounce back quickly.  When you go to places like Ibrox and Parkhead you just try to keep it tight for as long as possible and that was our plan on Saturday, but it didn't quite work out that way.  Before their first goal Rangers never really had a shot on target, although when they did score it gave them a big lift and changed the game."

Despite his hat-trick against Hibs the previous week, recent signing David Ferrere had to settle for a place on the bench at Ibrox although he could make his first start for the club against Hearts.  Eric Black said:
"David did well when he came on against Rangers and the only reason he didn't start was because he is not yet fully fit.  He will have a run out for the reserves tonight (Wednesday) and then we will take it from their, but he is definetely in contention for a starting place against Hearts."

However, the reserve game that Eric mentioned above (against Hibs) was called off earlier today.
