Another of the mystery trialists from Monday night's Under-21 match has been revealed.  As well as Gavin Strachan and former Rangers player Kirk Willoughby, we also had French striker David Ferrere in the side.  The 25-year-old can also play in midfield, and both he and Willoughby scored Motherwell's goals in the 2-2 draw with Kilmarnock.

Despite the weekend defeat by Livingston, in today's local press Eric Black is calling for a repeat performance when Hibs visit Fir Park on Saturday.  Although the Almondvale side won 2-1 last week, Motherwell created numerous chances and had 17 shots on goal during the 90 mins.  Eric said:
"The scoreline could easily have been 4-1 against Livingston at half-time and it certainly wouldn't have flattered us as we managed to create plenty of chances.  If you look at the number of shots we had at their goal during the game then it's pretty high and not to have got something from is difficult to take, especially as it was yet another good performance from the players.  The effort and the attitude from the players was tremendous. It was just one of those days! I'm sure a similar kind of performance on Saturday against Hibs will put us in with a chance of taking the three points."

Looking ahead to the Hibs game, he added:
"Franck has brought in three players in Gary Caldwell, Jarko Wiss and Lilian Martin, so he is trying to change it round.  It's certainly not through a lack of effort that Hibs happen to find themselves near the bottom. Franck is a good lad and I'm sure he will go on to be a very good manager.  However, we are concentrating on our own game and if we can make the same amount of chances as we did against Livingston and score a few then it should be enough to win the game."

Our top scorer, James McFadden, will miss the Hibs game through suspension, although Keith Lasley returns after being banned for the Livingston match.  Yan Soloy, our goalscorer against Livvy, is struggling with an achilles injury which forced him to leave the field on Saturday.  Eric is delighted with the way Yan has settled in at Fir Park:
"Yan has done very well for us since coming in, especially as he had never played at wing-back before, but his level of performance has been very consistent.  He was taken off on Saturday as his achilles was a bit sore and that's why we brought on Stevie Nicholas so we wouldn't lose our attacking shape.  Yan will be with us until the end of the season and we will see what happens from their, although he is doing well at the moment."

Meanwhile, the BBC are confirming our earlier story that Gordon Strachan's son Gavin has joined us on a three-month loan.  His club, Coventry City, have the option of recalling him to Highfield Road after one month, but he has not featured in the first team there for several months.  Pat Nevin is quoted as saying:
"It is a chance for us to look and him and for him to look at us - then we'll see what happens."
