Today's game with Celtic is OFF as the Fir Park pitch is frozen.

Motherwell director of football George Adams has quit Fir Park to become head of youth development for Rangers.  The two clubs are now trying to agree a compensation package for the 56-year-old, who was under contract until 2005.  Adams joined the management team along with Eric Black, Terry Butcher and Chris McCart, and after the club went into administration he took on a more senior role and was responsible, among other things, for negotiating players' contracts.  Motherwell majority shareholder John Boyle is quoted as saying:
"We are extremely sad at the prospect of losing George Adams as he played a pivital part in the re-engineering of Motherwell.  We have made our very, very best efforts to try to retain him but understandably he is minded to go because Rangers are a bigger club with great resources.  As it stands he is still a Motherwell employee but we are in discussions with Rangers about the arrangements.  It is a blow but we still think Motherwell will remain the most attractive team for emerging youngsters and their families.  If a kid is given the chance of joining Manchester United, Celtic, Rangers or Motherwell then a sensible dad would surely tell the boy to sign for us as he will get more first-team chances here.  We could have fielded Saturday's first team in the Under 21 league and we will continue with that policy.  Our league position is somewhat precarious at the moment but we are confident we will battle up the table and our long-term prospects are healthy also.  Our financial projection says we might make a small profit in the current year so the club is stable again and we look forward to a brighter future - even without George."

James McFadden, Stevie Hammell and Stephen Pearson all played for Scotland Under-21s against Ireland at Rugby Park on Tuesday night, and helped the young Scots to a 2-0 victory.  Both Pearson and Hammell started with match, with Pearo being subbed at half-time.  Faddy replaced Celtic's Shaun Maloney for the second half.
