Ricky's report of the Dundee game is now available.

6pm

Today's result: Dundee 2, Motherwell 1.

Had to work today so didn't make it to the game, but it sounds like we dominated for long spells, especially in the first half.  Scott McDonald gave us the lead after 40 mins, but the home side equalised right on half time with seemingly their first real chance of the game.  Dundee took the lead shortly after the restart with what sounds like a scrappy goal from our point of view, and they held on for a somewhat underserved 2-1 win.

The stats show that we won 8 corners to Dundee's 1, and had an unbelievable 23 shots compared to 10 from the home side.  How on earth did we manage to lose this game?

That's now over two months since we last won a league match...

Team (4-4-2): Marshall, Quinn, Craigan, Partridge, Hammell, McBride, O'Donnell, Leitch, Paterson (Foran 70), McDonald, Hamilton (Clarkson 87).
Subs Not Used: Ewings, Wright, Fagan, Kinniburgh, Fitzpatrick.

Booked: none.

Attendance: 5,746.

Terry Butcher's post-match comments were as follows:
"I can't put my feelings into words and my actions in the dressing room vouch for that.  I'm bitterly disappointed because we dominated the game and have come away with nothing. We have to be ruthless in front of goal and keep it tighter at the back, that's something my players have to learn.  Full credit to Dundee because when they got their lead they defended it with their lives. Derek Soutar was in inspired form after winning his new contract and his performance was superb, but we should have made more of the chances we had.  I was angry with the referee at the end because we had a corner kick and he didn't let us take it. He put up a minute's injury time and by my watch we still had time left, but that's all I'm going to say."

Ticket information regarding the League Cup Final is now available from the Official Site.

The club have confirmed that Terry Butcher, Maurice Malpas and Chris McCart have all signed extensions to their contracts which tie them to MFC until the end of 2007/08.  TB is quoted as saying:
"I have no hesitation in signing the contract. I'm delighted.  That will take us until the summer of 2008. If I am signing players up until 2008 then I suppose they're right to expect the same sort of commitment from their manager to sign up until 2008.   Perhaps the players don't want that - but I am going to sign it anyway."

TB waxes lyrical about Scott Leitch in this Sporting Life article, saying he is "the best captain in Britain".  Think Tel needs to stay off the red wine.
