2.45pm A much-changed Motherwell team recorded a comfortable 2-0 win in yesterday's friendly match at McDiarmid Park, with Scott McDonald on target twice for the Steelmen. Ricky's report of the game is available here.
After a run of 113 consecutive first team starts, Martyn Corrigan will be out for four to six weeks after breaking a small bone in his hand in the early stages of the League Cup semi final. He SHOULD be back in time for the cup final.
Today's Sunday Mail reports that Terry Butcher, Maurice Malpas and Chris McCart have all been offered contract extensions which would tie them to the club until 2008. Someone's having a laugh I think.
And still on the subject of our management team, apparently Terry Butcher and/or Maurice Malpas are being linked with the manager's job at Tannadice should Ian McCall get the sack.
The Sunday Mail also carries an interview with Phil O'Donnell.
There's been very little news regarding the CIS Cup Final, with reports earlier in the week suggesting the club would request anything from 15,000 tickets to a 50/50 split. It seems that CIS Insurance are considering transforming the final into a tribute for Davie Cooper as it falls just three days before the 10th anniversary of his death. Not sure how I'd feel about this to be honest, as while Coop was undoubtedly a legend at both clubs, any tribute to him on March 20 is likely to be Rangers oriented and could well overshadow the occasion of our first League Cup final for 50 years...
The club have kindly donated the strips worn by the players in Tuesday night's semi final to the Motherwell Supporters' Trust. For details of how to win one, visit the welltrust website.
