We've signed former Rangers midfielder Bob Malcolm until the end of the season after the 27-year-old was released by Derby County.  I'll leave you to make your own minds up if this is a good move or not (see below), but personally I wouldn't have touched him with a bargepole.  After all, this is the thug who raked his studs down Said Chiba's face in a match at Fir Park a few years back, and who signed an autograph as "FTP" during his spell at Ibrox.  And there is of course the recent drink-driving incident when he parked his car in the middle lane of the M1 and fell asleep at the wheel.  Is this really the kind of individual we want to have at our so-called family club, especially when he'll almost certainly be at the top end of our pay scale?  Of course, he may well do a job for us on the pitch, but to me at the moment that's secondary to the fact that the money I contribute to the club will be going towards paying this scumbag's wages.

The club's 102nd AGM took place last night, where it was announced that John Boyle would be returning as chairman, with Bill Dickie stepping down to become vice-chairman.

The club also announced a small profit of £7,372, our fourth successive year of being in the black and all the more impressive when you consider the figure doesn't include revenue from the sale of Scott McDonald or James McFadden's transfer from Everton to Birmingham.

However, of most interest was the announcement that the club are investigating the possibility of moving away from Fir Park, presumably to a new stadium at Ravenscraig.  John Boyle is quoted as saying:
"We had a difficult time with the pitch around the turn of the year and its right that we as directors assess our options in terms of renovation of the stadium or alternative sites. No decisions have been taken and we are simply exploring realistic options at this stage."

I know the club must be spending a small fortune on maintaining Fir Park every season (especially the Main Stand), and they know fine well the site is in a prime location for housing.  However, it would be a sad, sad day if we were ever to move away from Fir Park.

Speaking of John Boyle, he was on Reporting Scotland tonight saying he wants to start a campaign to bring football into line with other sports and allow the sale of alcohol inside grounds.

The story about Paul Quinn decking one of Ross McCormack's mates last year has finally made it into the press.

Danny Murphy has been allowed to return to his former club Cork City for an undisclosed fee.  A truly fine Malpas signing.
