Today's Sun reports that Preston manager Craig Brown has made a new £600,000 offer for James McFadden.  However, the report claims that Motherwell will reject the offer, and it would take a bid of around £1million before the club would be remotely interested in a deal.  Apparently Preston's offer involves financing the deal in installments, with another large sum after Faddy has completed a set amount of first team games.

The Sun also reports that the Partick match today will be the last game of Stevie Ferguson's loan deal, and Terry Butcher has still to inform the player if he intends keeping him at Fir Park.  Fergie has scored only twice in 20 games, and Butcher said:
"Stevie will be involved in the squad for the Partick Thistle game and I'll speak to him afterwards.  I know what my decision will be - but we'll see after Thursday.  If we want we can extend his loan deal until the end of the season."
