In today's local press, Motherwell boss Terry Butcher rubbished national newspaper reports that he was set to sign Eddie Annand from Ayr Utd.  He said:
"We are not after Eddie. I have absolutely no idea where this story has came from."

However, Butcher could strengthen his forward line with the acquisition of either former Falkirk forward Steven Craig or Brondby striker Soren Larsen, both of whom are currently at Fir Park on trial. TB added:
"Soren’s a left-footed striker and I’m hoping to be able to watch him in a bounce game through the week.  As for Steven, he will be playing for the under-21s and that will give me a chance to watch him."

Meanwhile, TB has vurtually a full squad to pick from for Saturday's cup tie at Kilmarnock.  James McFadden is expected to recover from a throat infection to play, although German defender Daniel Sengewald has been struck down with tonsillitis.  The 'Well manager said:
"Everyone at the club can’t wait for the game against Kilmarnock on Saturday to come round.  We’ve now had a good few weeks back training and although we haven't been able to take the players away to likes of Florida and Dubai, they have shown a great attitude and desire.  I’m also hoping to have some new faces in before the game as well which will freshen things up, so everything is positive at the moment.  More importantly, the players know what is required in the second half of the season and we’ll be giving it all we can to try and move up the table."

"It’s not the best of draws for us as we would have preferred to be playing at home, but we’ll be going all out for the win.  However, we’re under no illusions as to how difficult it will be as Rugby Park is a hard place to go and get anything from.  The cup always seems to throw up games where teams can play each other twice over a short space of time and if we could get a win in the league, as well as on Saturday, then it would be nice.  Unfortunately, it rarely works like that and I know from my time as a player that it’s very difficult to notch up two wins over the same side back-to-back.  They are a top six side, but we’ve beaten them at Rugby Park this season, so we know what’s required to get a victory.  Indeed, we should have got a result against then as well at home and it was harsh the way we lost that game to a late goal. Hopefully, we can get some revenge starting on Saturday."
