The SPL today confirmed that any club going into administration after this season will suffer a 10-point deduction and be prevented from signing new players.  Fortunately, we have begun the process of coming out of admin, and therefore won't (hopefully!) be affected by the rule.

David Cowan, Stevie Craig and David Partridge are all back in light training, with Cowan expected to resume full training next month.  The 21-year-old is set to be offered a new contract by the club, and was quoted in today's press as saying:
"The club have been brilliant to me since the injury and hopefully we can get something sorted out because I'd love to stay.  At the moment I haven't set a date for my comeback I just want to get the leg muscle built up and try to get as many reserve games as possible under my belt.''

You'll probably have heard about this by now, but here goes anyway.  Our good friends over at Partick Thistle yesterday made goalkeeper Kevin Budinauckas redundant due to "financial constraints", and apparently have no plans to compensate him for the remainder of his contract.  This comes shortly after they signed former Dundee goalkeeper Jamie Landfield from Raith Rovers. As you may recall, Thistle had a bit of a moan when Motherwell used the laws of administration to get rid of high-earning players and then bring in cheap replacements.  Hmm, double standards methinks.  As far as I can see, the only difference between the two situations is that Motherwell WILL pay the redundant players a significant amount of what they were due.

Still on the subject of Partick Thistle, the Glasgow side yesterday freed former Motherwell defender Eddie Forrest, who made just 6 appearances for the Jags since signing in the summer.

Scotland Under-21 boss Rainer Bonhof has called up William Kinniburgh, Shaun Fagan and David Clarkson for a mini training camp at Lesser Hampden next week.
