Ricky's report of the Dundee
Utd game is now available. Enjoy!
Terry Butcher's post-match comments were as follows:
"It was a very good second half, I thought that in the first half we
played some good football but on our half rather than theirs and we could’ve
been 2-0 down if the header had hit the post and gone in. But we rode out
luck a little bit today but I’m delighted with the second half and we played
some good football in their half for a change. We got back top creating chances
and you could see the confidence come back after scoring our first goal in 509
minutes. Its good to get to 24 points, only four off last season’s
total, that just shows how well we have done this season, and we are now up to
fifth – Happy New Year to everybody!!!"
Meanwhile, Phil O'Donnell said after the match that he was
delighted to be back at Fir Park:
"I'm glad to be back and I got a good reception from the Well fans
before the game, and I was just desperate to get on when things were going so
well and when Leitchy picked up a wee knock I was delighted to get on.
I've been back about eight weeks and everybody has been brilliant to me, and its
great that we got something sorted out and I can get back playing at first team
level. It was a while coming but I took my time to make sure I was right.
"I was really nervous this morning as I haven't played a first team
game for over a year as I was an unused sub most of the time at Wednesday. But I'm
here for 18 months and we'll see how it goes. But I'm delighted to be here and
the manager has been good by giving me training facilities and then having a
look at me and I hope I can re-pay the faith he has shown in me. I've no
worries about the fans expectations as I know I can still play at a decent
level. Although my game has changed a bit since I was last here, but I still
like to get into the box and get up and down but maybe not as much as I used to!"
His manager went on to say:
"Phil has signed for 18 months, and he has worked very hard and shown a
good level of fitness. He's also got good experience for us, as you saw today we
were down to the bare bones again, it doesn't take much for us to have a very
young bench. We have a difficult January coming up with three away games and we
needed bodies. I haven't signed Phil just to see out time and I don't want
him just to exist in the SPL and be a jersey filler. He's got to come in do what
the other senior pros do and encourage the young ones. He's a great professional
and its great to have him about the place. The fans know that he is a whole
hearted player who will give his all for the club."
