8.20pm

Found out that tonight's game with Celtic was off at 7pm, just as I was heading into to Daniels.  Although the pitch passed an inspection at 3pm, it was somehow deemed unplayable some four hours later despite there being little deterioration in the weather.  Have to admit I was amazed the game got the go-ahead in the first place when I saw TV pictures of the ref inspecting the park this afternoon, as the pitch looked to be in a terrible state.

What a joke.  And given the weather forecast, it looks like we can forget about Saturday's game too.

Following on from my previous rumour, its been revealed that Southend have turned down a £150,000 bid from Motherwell for Stevie Hammell.  Perhaps we intended him to be a replacement for Jim Paterson...

Meanwhile, Sky Sports are reporting that Mark McGhee is trying to sign Bob Malcolm!  Yup, the same Bob Malcolm who was recently suspended by Derby for a drink-driving incident on the M1 and who signed his autograph as "FTP" while at Rangers.

Other players being linked with us are Celtic's Jim O'Brien and Derek Riordan (loan).
