Today's ever reliable Scottish Sun reports that the Motherwell players have been told to be on their guard for tomorrow's friendly with Cardiff City, as it is believed that Leeds hooligans could hijack the match in an attempt to resume their feud with with the Welsh club's fans.  One player is quoted as saying:
"We have all been told to be on our guard for the game on Sunday.  It's believed that Leeds fans might be travelling up to Fir Park to stage some kind of a repeat of the trouble at Cardiff.  We have absolutely no idea why they chose us but I'm told some Motherwell fans have a soft spot for Leeds.  We don't know what will happen, we hope nothing, but there is a fear something might.  There is no place in Scottish football for this kind of thing and we can only pray the match passes off without incident."

Local police have been liasing with their Welsh and Yorkshire colleagues in a bid to stop any trouble, and a club "insider" is quoted as saying:
"We hope our fans turn out as normal and this scaremongering doesn't put anyone off.  When something like this is mentioned there is obvious concern for the players and crowd safety.  But we are confident the police will be in complete control and that the game will pass without incident."

Andy Goram has signed a one-year deal with First Division newcomers Queen of the South on a part-time contract, which will allow him to keep his coaching post at Fir Park.  He said:
"I can carry on coaching at Motherwell and go down to Dumfries two nights a week so I'm more or less full-time."
