Not surprisingly, Terry Butcher has rubbished the reports in yesterday's press with claimed that James McFadden was on his was to Rangers for just £750,000. The players resume first-team training today, and although Faddy will be absent, this is merely down to the fact that he is recovering from a foot injury. TB said:
"There has not been a single enquiry, never mind a bid, for James from any club so far. In any case, anyone who thinks we would ever sell him for £750,000 has got to be fantasising. People look at the situation Motherwell are in, and assume we would have no choice but to accept such a bid, but that is simply not the case. James is clearly worth far more, even in the current transfer market climate. I’m angry that this kind of speculation keeps rearing its head and I’m afraid there are some people whose agendas it suits to keep it going. As far as I’m concerned, I’m looking forward to James McFadden being an important part of my plans at Motherwell this season."

McFadden's injury means he will miss the first 10 days of pre-season training, but Butcher added:
"It’s not a big problem as far as we are concerned. He’s not going to miss out a great deal and will be ready for the start of the season."

The 'Well boss added that no bids made been made for Stephen Pearson or Stevie Hammell either:
"Both boys are in the same boat as James. No clubs have been in touch with us about them."

New signing Stephen Craigan will also be missing from pre-season training today, as he has been given an extra week’s holiday after summer international duty with Northern Ireland.
