A young Motherwell XI recorded a comfortable 3-0 victory at Arbroath last night, courtesy of goals from Kenny Wright (2) and Andy Scott. Team:

Subs used - Barkey & Higgins
Subs not used - Ewings, Neville & Reilly

Radio reports yesterday suggested that Celtic were set to sign James McFadden by the weekend. Celtic boss Marton O'Neill responded by saying:
"I don't know anything about me signing McFadden in two days' time, but I am always interested in good players."

Not surprisingly, Terry Butcher described the report as "absolute garbage" and said:
"He (McFadden) is getting back to fitness and happily preparing to play part of Saturday's friendly against Fulham,"

TB went on to confirm that the club would be entering talks with Stephen Pearson about a new contract after knocking back an offer for the Scotland U-21 midfielder from Leicester City.

Former Motherwell defender Tony Vaughan has signed for English 3rd Division side Mansfield on a one-year deal.
