Motherwell have signed Andy Dow after the 28-year-old midfielder was released from the final year of his contract by Aberdeen.  The midfielder has signed a two-year deal and BD said:
"I am delighted to have him on board.  Andy is a very good players and I think he will not only be a good addition to the team, but a very successful player at this club over the next couple of years."

We are also believed to be close to signing another axed Aberdeen player, David Rowson.  He has been a target for months and the club are keen to agree terms with the midfielder.

The club have announced they will play friendly matches against Partick Thistle and Albion Rovers before heading for their pre-season tour of France on July 11-18, where they will play a further three games.  BD said:
"We're working on the details and will name the opposition when they are all agreed."

Derek Townsley is expected to complete his move to Easter Road over the weekend.  Speaking yesterday, Hibs' manager Alex McLeish said:
"We are aware the guy is out of contract but it would be premature to say anything is going to happen."

BD says he'll be bringing in at least five more players over the summer, and admitted they would all be at the lower end of the transfer market:
"I reckon we will need another five of six players. We have a number of irons in the fire and we are waiting to hear from a number of people.  It will be Bosman players we will be looking at and I will be looking abroad as well.  The biggest problem is that there are so many players out there. It's different when you are a big club and you have got millions of pounds to spend on top quality players.  We have got to be more careful and make sure we do our homework properly."

When asked about Aberdeen's David Rowson, BD replied:
"He is a player we know is available but we have not done anything about starting negotiations."

BD was then asked about Derek Townsley's seemingly imminent move to Hibs, to which he would only say:
"We made him an offer and he never got back to us so we have got to take it that he is going somewhere else."
