This morning's newspapers are reporting that recent signing Mark Brown has been handed the No 1 squad jersey, an indication that BD probably sees him as first-choice goalkeeper.

Mark Brown and Andy Dow both reported for pre-season training yesterday along with the rest of the squad, and Dow told the gathered reporters he was delighted to have signed for Motherwell:
"It's good to feel wanted again.  I didn't feel wanted last year and it was strange how badly things went for me, considering how well I had done in the previous season.  The manager said he left me out because of my form, but I didn't feel I was doing as badly as he thought. I did have a few words with him."

"The top six is the realistic aim.  I would not have come here if I thought we would be flirting near the bottom.  Mark and I have already signed and the manager has told me that there will be a few more signings, so the top six will be our aim.  I didn't know too much about Mark but I was speaking to Neil McCann at Jim Hamilton's wedding recently and he told me that he couldn't believe that Rangers had let him go."

Mark Brown added:
"The challenge for a first-team place is what made me decide to come.  I honestly felt that the time was right to leave Rangers.  Stefan (Klos) is an excellent keeper and I didn't see myself getting in before him in the foreseeable future. I'm really looking forward to the opportunity here."

Today's Daily Record reports that BD is waiting to find out if he's landed Jim McIntyre after making a bid for the ex-Kilmarnock striker.  Dundee United, St Johnstone and a number of English clubs are also interested in the 28-year-old who is available on a free from Reading.
