It seems as though Falkirk's appeal against the decision to deny them promotion to the SPL could be heard by the SFA as early as next Thursday.  That date had originally been set aside for a preliminary hearing to decide if the SFA had jurisdiction over the SPL, but it seems that matter has already been resolved.  Even if the appeal is heard next week, Falkirk may still seek an interim interdict to prevent the SPL publish fixtures for next season until the matter is finally laid to rest.

We definitely WON'T be signing Tom Boyd.  The Celtic club captain has announced his retirement from playing at the age of 37, despite two offers of player-coach roles from Motherwell and, ironically enough, Falkirk. Guess this means another victory for the Rumours page...

Terry Butcher said in the local press this week that he hopes to bring in "one or two more" players before the start of the season, although nothing will happen until he returns from his holiday in a fortnight.

Leg-break victim David Cowan spoke to the press today, and said:
"I have more x-rays at the beginning of July and I just have to pray the bones are healing. I still have pains in my leg at the minute but fortunately I am not in plaster.  My short term goal is to get fit so that I can stake a claim for a place in the first team, although I will have to wait until October before I can make a comeback

"I definitely want to stay at Motherwell, I love it here. I have great respect for Terry Butcher and he is probably the reason I signed for the club.  He is a great manager and although results didn't go his way last season, he has done his best for Motherwell"

Finally received my season ticket renewal letter this morning (after the club sent it to the wrong address!) and the main points of note are as follows:

  • As announced previously, there is no increase in season ticket prices from 2002/03.  Details are available here.

  • The club have negotiated away discount for traveling season ticket holders with four teams:
    - Aberdeen - Children Under 12 go free, with a voucher from season book
    - Dunfermline - Children Under 12 go free, with a voucher from season book
    - Hearts - Adult will pay £12 and a Juvenile £6 with a voucher from season book
    - Kilmarnock - 25% off gate prices with voucher from book

  • Existing holders will have their seats reserved until June 30.

  • The club are compiling an email database "to keep fans informed of the most up-to-date events and promotions at Fir Park".  Season ticket holders are encouraged to write their email address on the back of their renewal form.

  • A Comedy Night featuring "hysterical stand-up comedians" (thought Steve Woods had been released?) will take place at Fir Park on Friday, June 27, with tickets costing £3.

Our old friend Derek Townsley has signed for Oxford United.  Nae luck to them!
