The latest player to be linked with Motherwell is Scotland Under-21 player Brian Kerr.  The Newcastle midfielder, who made only a handful of first-team appearances last season, says he would jump at the chance of moving to Fir Park:
"It's getting to a critical stage in my career and I need to be playing more.  To come to Motherwell would be excellent, but I know they are struggling financially.  If they wanted to take me on loan, I would definitely consider it.  I regularly talk to James McFadden and Stephen Pearson and I know Steven Hammell.  They all enjoy playing with Motherwell and it would be good to play with guys I know from the Scotland set-up."

The club have finally confirmed that we will play a pre-season friendly against Fulham at Fir Park, however it will take place on Saturday August 2 rather than Monday August 4 as previously published.

Terry Butcher said today that Stephen Pearson will be offered a contract extension, in an attempt to ward off interest in him from the likes of LeicesterCity.  Butcher said:
"If we were considering selling Stephen then it would take a lot more than £250,000.  Indeed, we are going to offer Stephen an extension to his current contract as his present deal runs out next year.  I can understand the interest in the player but he is still learning.  I know he's recently got a new agent who has been speaking to a number of clubs down in England. However, we haven't had any offers."

Another interesting rumour from a very reliable source has just reached us...
