Terry Butcher stated last week that further signings were unlikely until he returns from Euro 2004. Former Motherwell player John Spencer is set to return to the UK following a spell with USA Major League side Colorado Rapids. Spenny is hoping to take his first steps into football management, however Teletext reports he was close to quitting the game following his spell at Fir Park, and there is even the following quote from his wife: "He couldn't play and he couldn't enjoy himself. I stopped going to watch the matches because of the abuse and I had to stop bringing the kids. It's the first time I saw him turn against football."
