No further action will be taken against Rangers' defender Robert
Malcolm following the incident on Saturday involving Said Chibba. Despite
clearly dragging his studs over Chibba's face during the second half of
Saturday's match, the SFA have decided there is no case to answer. The SFA
released the following statement:
"The SFA is to take no further action on the incident involving the Rangers player Robert Malcolm, in
Saturday's match against Motherwell. Jim Oliver, Chairman of the Disciplinary Committee, and David Taylor, Chief Executive, reviewed
video footage of the incident. In their opinion, there was sufficient doubt about the degree of
intent on the part of the player, which led them to conclude that it would be wrong to initiate
disciplinary proceedings on the grounds of exceptional misconduct."
Motherwell have accepted the SFA's verdict and won't be pursuing
any further action against Malcolm. Pat Nevin said:
"I thought differently from the SFA, but they are the experts and they
must know what they are doing."
