Motherwell won 2-0 at McDairmid Park yesterday, a win which was apparently much more convincing than the scoreline suggests.  Ricky informs me that it was an "easy" victory over a very poor St Johnstone side who are now doomed to relegation.  Our goals came from a McFadden penalty in the first half and a Lehmann header in the second half, and it sounds as though we had another good penalty claim turned down late on.  Isn't it just typical that I had to miss the game!

Despite needing just one more point to guarantee SPL football again at Fir Park next season, Eric Black was taking nothing for granted after yesterday's win in Perth:
"We won't be relaxed until it's mathematically impossible.  But I was pleased with the performance today and we will try to build on this from now until the end of the season.  It was absolutely vital that we came up here and showed the right mentality and great credit must go to them because they did that.  I said to them at half time that it won't be easy because they are fighting for their lives. But we were mentally very strong so I am very pleased with the way in which the lads played today."

Meanwhile, Dirk Lehmann has revealed he is willing to commit his long-term future to the club.  After bagging his third goal in only seven games since joining Motherwell, he said:
"My contract runs out at the end of the season.  But so far so good and touch wood something will be sorted out.  I've played seven games now and I've done well so far, but it's not my decision.  I've decided not speak about it just yet, but I am really happy at the club.  The people are really friendly and it's a great pleasure to be here so that's why I'll give 100 per cent to the club. It's been brilliant and the rest of the boys have been really good."

David Clarkson scored twice for Scotland Under-17s against Lithuania on Friday night.

Celtic's 1-1 draw with Rangers earlier today means that they can not now clinch the Championship at Fir Park a week on Tuesday, provided Rangers don't drop any points in their last remaining SPL fixture before the league split.

Time for a new Fans' Poll....

Should any of the Fir Park stands be renamed after 'Well legends?
