The BBC
have confirmed that James McFadden and Keith Lasley have signed contract extensions
tying them to Fir Park for at least the next two years. Lasley is quoted
as saying:
"Signing this extension to my contract has given me confidence and a chance
to take my career on to the next level. I'm just pleased to have been
given the chance to play regularly in the first team. I
am not the finished article by any means and there are various aspects of my
game I can improve on at Motherwell. I
obviously have ambitions to play at a higher level, but I have to concentrate on
where I am now and not where I might be in three or four years. But,
if nothing comes in, then I will still be happy to play for Motherwell."
Faddy said:
"Once the manager spoke to me, I was
delighted to sign. I'm happy to be
playing first-team football and it is good to know you are part of the club's
plans for the future. This is
everything I wanted to do. I have been preparing myself for it and, although
things have happened quite fast, I have also learned to deal with it.
There is a very relaxed atmosphere in the
dressing-room, which helps, and the experienced players have been a big help in
encouraging us on and off the park."
Eric Black added:
"I was very pleased both of them agreed so quickly. Both of them
have handled their rise magnificently. Both lads have kept their feet on
the ground, live properly and are great at training."
Today's local press reports that the trialist who turned out for
the Under-21s on Monday night is Frank Bernard, a centre-half who formerly
played with Strasbourg and Club Brugge.
The Sun reports that Eric Black has hired media expert
Frank Gilfeather to teach his under-18 players how to deal with newspapers and
TV.
Time for a new Fans' Poll....
Should any of the Fir Park stands
be renamed after 'Well legends?
