Yesterday's result: Dundee Utd 1, Motherwell 1.

Wasn't at Tannadice yesterday (afraid I've long since chucked it with away games) but I suppose we've got to be relatively happy with a point after recent results.  Interesting to see Malpas finally ring the changes, with Stephen Craigan, Darren Smith, Brian Kerr and Ross McCormack all dropping out of the starting eleven to be replaced by Paul Quinn, Steven McGarry, Kevin McBride and Scott McDonald.

The home side took the lead after 29 mins when Robb headed into the net after apparently impeding Graeme Smith, but we equalised shortly afterwards courtesy of a Danny Murphy free kick.

In a controversial second half, Scott McDonald looked like he had claimed a winner for Motherwell despite appearing offside, but although the goal was initially awarded it seems as though pressure from the United players persuaded the referee and linesman to change their minds(?)  Will be interesting to see it on TV.  Then late on, Paul Quinn received a second yellow card following an incident involving United's Robson, but the 10 men held on to secure a point.

Team (4-4-2): Smith, Quinn, Corrigan (Fitzpatrick 43), Reynolds, Murphy, McGarry, Vadocz, McBride, Paterson, Clarkson (Connolly 81), McDonald.
Subs Not Used: Martin, McCormack, Keegan, Molloy

Motherwell scorer: Murphy (37).

Booked: Quinn, Clarkson.

Sent Off: Quinn.

Attendance: 5,183.

Not surprisingly, the disallowed goal dominated Maurice Malpas' post-match thoughts:
"I'd like to know who made the referee aware, or the linesman aware, of what actually happened.  They seemed to both give the goal then Dundee United player pressure possibly changed that decision.  From what I can gather from the players, he (the referee) supposedly made the linesman aware that there was a flick-on. But they made their decision and that's it.  It was a difficult game for us to come up here, missing players we need to play and I thought we had the better chances in the game."

Marc Fitzpatrick has signed a two-year extension to his contract, tying him to Fir Park until summer 2009.
