Tonight's result: Motherwell 1, Celtic 1.

After 3 duff performances since clinching a top six place, this was much more like it.  The team finally remembered that they can play a bit, and although Celtic fielded a very inexperienced side the match was at times played more like a cup tie than a meaningless end of season game.

TB thankfully dropped both Adams and Craig from the side, with Lasley returning to the midfield after suspension and David Clarkson partnering Scott McDonald in attack.

After a fairly tepid opening 45 mins, notable only for a disallowed Motherwell goal, the match suddenly sparked to life early in the second half following a shocking Liam Miller challenge on Martyn Corrigan.  We took the lead shortly afterwards when Burns setup Clarkson to score from close range, despite a suspicion of offside.  The 'Well youngster then missed a glorious chance to kill the game off before Celtic equalised through a Beattie header from a corner kick.  Both teams pushed for a winner, but there was no further scoring and we had to settle for a point.  The final whistle was greeted with the traditional Fir Park end of season pitch invasion, after which the players appeared in the directors box for a well deserved round of applause.

This was an excellent performance from the team tonight, with Craigan and Lasley particularly outstanding.  I can only assume there was a scout watching Keith in action tonight because he played out of his skin, particularly in the first half, and showed just how badly we will miss him if he does decide to leave.  Special mention also to the 'Well fans, who kept up the constant booing of Pearson (and Lennon for that matter) throughout the 90 mins.  Great stuff!

Aberdeen have confirmed that both Derek Adams and Stevie Craig have signed pre-contract agreements to join the Pittodrie side at the end of the season.  Terry Butcher is quoted as saying:
"We wish both players well.  Derek has been here seven years and has been a great servant for the club.  They've both been good for us and I hope we've been good for them."
