There's not really much going on round Fir Park way at the moment, probably because Terry Butcher is away on holiday at the moment. However, here are some snippets of news from the last few days or so...

  • There was plenty of Motherwell involvement in the Scotland Under-19 side's 3-2 defeat to Finland last night, for varying reasons. David Clarkson and Paul Quinn started the match, and Clarkson was sent off after giving away a penalty while Quinn later scored a goal! Kenny Wright came on as a late substitute.
  • Our friendly against St Mirren at Love Street has been moved from Saturday, July 24 to Tuesday, July 27. This means that the Stenhousemuir match originally scheduled for the 27th has been cancelled.
  • The Wishaw Press reports that the new Fir Park pitch will be the same turf as Old Trafford and the Millennium Stadium, Cardiff.
  • Stephen Craigan was deservedly voted Player of the Year at the Supporter's Association function on Saturday night, with David Clarkson picking up the Young Player of the Year award.
  • Supposed Motherwell target Lee Bullen has signed for Sheffield Wednesday.
  • Jason Dair says he'd be happy to change his mind and sign a new contract with Motherwell if we make him an improved offer in line with the other senior players. He is reported to be a potential target for Inverness Caley Thistle.
  • Former Motherwell player Lee McCulloch has been called up to the full Scotland squad for the friendly internationals against Estonia and Trinidad & Tobago.  Yes, Scotland really are THAT bad.
