Tribal Football report that Scott McDonald has submitted a transfer request and wants to leave Motherwell.  They quote him as saying:
"I have absolutely loved the last two and a half years at Motherwell. Terry Butcher and Maurice Malpas have helped me enormously to get my career back on track.  My decision to leave Fir Park has nothing to do with Terry leaving the club. I can also state categorically that I do not want to follow him to Australia. My decision for leaving is that I feel my career will be furthered by moving to a new club.  Motherwell, it's directors, coaches and fans are first class but I have noticed I've lost my zip in the last couple of months. Missing the World Cup squad brought home to me that I need to keep challenging myself to get the most out of my ability.

"Just because I have asked for a move does not mean someone will come in for me. Who knows? I might still end up at the club next season. It has nothing at all to do with money.  I am not trying to leverage a new deal ... I know that Motherwell  has a strict wage cap and after what they have been through I totally understand the situation."

Hmm, not sure what to make of this.  Although Skippy's form dipped considerably in the second half of last season, he is still by far our most creative player and I think we'd miss him badly (a Hamilton/Clarkson partnership anyone?)

Anyway, the club say they have received no official transfer request from the player and hope he will see out the remainder of his contract.

On the subject of Jim Hamilton, the Daily Record have concocted a ridiculous story claiming that Dunfermline want him back, even though there are no quotes from anyone to substantiate the claims.

Martyn Corrigan has signed a new three-year deal, which will include a testimonial match in the final year of his contract.  The Kaiser underwent an operation last week on his cruciate ligament, and his manager Maurice Malpas said:
"Martyn underwent his operation today, a bit earlier than expected due to the strength of his quads. This will also help with his recovery time and hopefully we will have him back a bit quicker.  Even at that we are looking at a number of months out of the side rather than weeks."

There's still been no confirmation from the club that Jim Paterson has signed a new one-year deal, and there's been no further word on the Stevie Hammell situation.

Paul Quinn and David Clarkson both played for Scotland Under-21s in their 1-1 draw with Turkey on Friday night.

The new home kit goes on sale on Saturday 15th July and can be pre-ordered from the Well Shop or from here.

Even if Skippy does decide to leave us, he'll always be remembered for his two goals against Celtic exactly on year ago today.  Happy anniversary!

It's been a while since we had an opinion poll.  So here goes?

Who is your Player of the Year?
