Yesterday's result: Motherwell 1, Dundee Utd 1.

Didn't make it to the game yesterday as I was at a wedding (congratulations Ally and Sarah!), but it doesn't sound like I missed an awful lot.  We took the lead on the hour mark when Jim Hamilton followed up after his penalty had been saved, but United hit back with an equaliser in the closing stages.  We lost both Smith and Kaiser to first half injuries, and there's been no word yet if Smith's injury will rule him out of the Kirin Cup matches for Scotland.  Alas, a small bunch of idiots ignored the club's request by invading the pitch at the final whistle, but they were soon removed and the players returned for a lap of honour.

At last the season is over!

Team (4-4-2): Graeme Smith (Meldrum 32), Kinniburgh (Robert Donnelly 55), McLean, Paul Quinn, Corrigan (McBride 34), McCormack, O'Donnell, Hammell, Paterson, Clarkson, Hamilton.
Subs Not Used: Kerr, McGarry, Fitzpatrick, Reynolds.

Motherwell scorer: Hamilton (60).

Booked: Quinn, McBride.

Attendance: 5,269.

Of course, the match yesterday was overshadowed by the possibility of it being Terry Butcher's farewell as he considers moving to Sydney FC.  Most of today's papers seem to think he is going, but he insisted after the match that he has yet to make his mind up:
"I'm talking with them at moment but it's difficult because you're not just moving down the M6 or the M74 - if you go it's a whole culture change.  I've got two sons to think about now who are 20 and 16, so they are at a good age.  There's a lot to think about and I can't put a timescale on it.  It's not as if I feel I've come to the end of the road at Motherwell. I certainly don't. An offer has come in, it's unexpected. It's something I haven't thought about before."

He said although discussions with Sydney officials have only taken place over the phone he wants to go out and visit the club:
"They love their football out there. I know other sports are the main sports but it's not like America where it's almost a sport that's hidden away.  With the World Cup this year and the A League having a good year and Sydney winning it it's really hit the spotlight."

The Fir Park board of directors have not given Butcher a deadline to make up his mind, but he added that he wants to see the matter resolved "within the next seven days".

Yesterday's Herald reported that Scott McDonald could also be offski in the summer!  Meanwhile, the 'Well striker says he hasn't given up hope of being named in the Australia World Cup squad:
"If I'm not in, I'll be disappointed but I'll still be supporting the boys.  I hope they do well and get through to the second stage as I have a lot of friends in the squad.  It is within us to do well because the other teams don't know what we're capable of.  But we have a lot of quality players and, in a one-off game, anything can happen.  We have a good chance because of the quality of players we have.  There is a great mixture of experience and youth in the squad.  Guys like Tim Cahill and then the experience of Craig Moore and Tony Vidmar.  I've been trying not to think about it too much, but I would give an arm and a leg to be in the squad. If I get in, it would be fantastic."

Skippy also admitted that he's had a disappointing season at Fir Park:
"I would have liked to have done a lot better than I have this season.  Maybe the expectations were too high after the end of last season.  I don't like to go down that road but it could be a possibility.  My thoughts on it now are what's done is done and you can't change that.  Now it's time to look forward and hope for a better season next year.  All I can do is work really really hard, get down to the nitty gritty and try to start on fire in this season coming.  I actually started this season really well and it just flattened out.  It's been disappointing I have not been able to keep it going.  In the first few games, I scored five goals and that was good but it's gone downhill since then.  It's been the same for the team but I believe, if I am doing my job and scoring goals, then most of the time we should be winning.  By not scoring enough, I feel we've been punished in a lot of ways."

At the end of last week, TB provided a brief update on the three players who have been offered new contracts:
"Corrigan is close to signing as is Jim Paterson. We are also in negotiations with Steven Hammell's agent this week."

He also confirmed the club's short pre-season tour of Northern Ireland, with games against Ballymena, Crusaders and Larne.

It's been a while since we had an opinion poll.  So here goes?
