We lost 1-0 at Pittodrie yesterday, although it sounds as though we were a bit unlucky and dominated possession for long periods of the game but lacked a cutting edge upfront (how many times have we heard that about a Motherwell team?).  Apparently we created several clear-cut chances but without David Kelly (injured in training in midweek) there was no-one there to put them away.  We need a striker, Mr Black!

The team was as follows (4-4-2)...

Brown, Corrigan, Strong, Ready, Hammell, Twaddle (Nicholas 65), Lasley, Leitch, Pearson (Deloumeaux 50), Elliott, Adams.
Subs not used: Woods, Dow, Forrest

Speaking after the match, Eric Black said:
"I thought that for the first 15 minutes Aberdeen dominated the game until we lost the opening goal.  After that we got several good deliveries into the box but couldn't put them away.  If we'd had two strikers up there it might have been different. With the quality of the crosses, another striker might have helped."

"I'm delighted with the response. Their attitude was magnificent today. I have to have time to assess the squad but I'm impressed so far, although I'll have to improve things."

"We're always looking for new players and if you can get someone in who is better than you have, then we'll try and do it.  We've been left a bit stranded with Ned David Kelly being out injured - that left us with only Derek Adams as a natural striker, so that's maybe one area we could look at."

Reports suggest that our old friend John Davies has been on trial with Colorado Rapids and is expected to join up with John Spencer there on a permanent basis soon.
