Reports suggest that Eric Black is set to make his first signing as Motherwell manager.  French defender Eric Deloumeaux is expected to arrive on a free transfer from Le Harve after failing to land a contract with Bradford City.  The 28-year-old can play centre-half, right-back or in midfield, and could make his debut against Dunfermline tomorrow.

Further information on Eric Deloumeaux is available here and here (under L'equipe Presentation and then presentation de l'equipe et du staff!

At yesterday's press conference, Eric Black heaped praise on Mark Brown after his impressive performances of late:
"Brown suffered along with the rest of the team at the start of this season but has since come into his own. I have only worked with the keeper over the past few weeks and his commitment and effort has been first class.  A lot of credit must go to Mark because he was thrown in at the deep end here, coming from third choice at Rangers to between the sticks in a Premier League, something which is no easy task.

"He has responded very well and, even in the last two games I’ve seen a difference as he’s taken on more responsibility. It’s been a testing time for him but a lot of credit has to go to big Woodsy because he’s worked religiously day-in, day-out with Mark. It says a lot about him because they are both challenging for the number one position.

"We have great kids here, but they do still have a long way to go. They are only coming into the game now and maybe some of them haven’t had a professional background, however, there is a lot of raw ability there and we just want to keep them going in the right direction.

"I have now had two games to look at the team and while I may well add to the squad I am happy with the players I have inherited. There is a little money available, not an awful lot, just like most other Premier League clubs.

"I have to say the response I’ve had from the lads in training has been outstanding and their application has also been first class. We are happy with what we have got and now all we need to do is get some rewards for the hard work, which the players have put in.

"On Tuesday against Dundee we created five or six chances and if the team do that in a game then we have to be reasonably pleased but for some reason we were unable to take these chances. If we continue to create chances then we will score goals. We’ve got Derek Adams and David Kelly up front so hopefully they can put them away for us.

"There was good news today when Kevin Twaddle reported back for training. He has been out since his horrific clash with Alan Main and the popular big winger was able to do a bit of running. It will be good when we have him back in the squad."
