Speaking in today's local press, Eric Black said that he was pleased with the result and performance against Dunfermline, and especially that we managed to record a rare clean sheet:
"Before the game I told the players that we have to stop losing as many goals and it was a tremendous boost to keep a clean sheet.  I think if we keep it tight at the back then we have the players upfront who are more than capable of scoring goals and winning matches.  However, we have to start to defend as a team and I thought the forwards and the midfield gave the defence plenty of protection, especially if you look at the number of clear-cut chances Dunfermline managed to create.

"The players deserved the win and we certainly created plenty of chances during the first-half.  Obviously, as the game went on it started to get slightly nervy as we couldn't manage to score a second goal, despite creating some tremendous opportunities.  Overall, it was a good win and I don't think many people can argue that we didn't deserve the three points."

Eric was also delighted to welcome Scott Leitch and Keith Lasley back to the side:
"Scott is a vital player for us as he brings plenty of experience to a young side, while Keith Lasley will run all day for you and I thought the two of them were outstanding on Saturday.  To have any player on the sidelines is a blow, but Leitch and Lasley are instrumental to the midfield and it showed against Dunfermline as we dominated that particular area."

Looking ahead to Saturday's match at Pittodrie, Eric added:
"I don't think Aberdeen have lost at home in the league since they lost to Rangers, so that tells you how tough it's going to be.  It is going to be difficult, but I think the fact we have now won a game and confidence in the camp is high then we should give them a good game."

However, Leitch and Lasley have been unable to train so far this week but Black is hopeful that both will be fit for the trip north.

Eric confirmed that former Reading and Luton midfielder Sean Evers is currently on trial at Fir Park:
"Sean was recommended to my assistant Terry Butcher by his former Rangers team-mate Graeme Roberts, so we have brought him up for a few days to have a look and then we will take it from there."

Newspaper reports suggest that former Le Harve defender Eric Deloumeaux could be in the Motherwell squad for Saturday's trip to Pittodrie.  Deloumeaux looks like signing a four-year deal today and Eric Black said:
"I hope we can complete this thing soon.  Eric can play anywhere at the back and will provide experience and I have been impressed by him in action."
