Ricky's report of the Partick Thistle game is now online.

Young Motherwell defender Paul Quinn and striker David Clarkson have been called into the Scotland Under-18 squad for two friendly matches in Germany next week.

Many thanks to Alan Renwick for sending in the following article from the Manchester Evening News.  Yes, believe it or not they ARE talking about the same Lee McCulloch who used to play with us...

McCulloch man of the moment for Latics

ONE can see why Wigan's battle-scarred Scottish warrior Lee McCulloch has been likened to a young Sir Alex Ferguson.

As a player, the raw-boned Fergie was a fierce competitor who put his body on the line - fellow Glaswegian McCulloch is in the same mould.

Such steely characteristics are priceless as braveheart McCulloch continues to be the unsung hero for a workmanlike Wigan outfit.

He is playing out of his skin behind the front two and is a man you'd want alongside you in the trenches.

Latics boss Paul Jewell, who marked his 38th birthday with this excellent 3-1 win over Barnsley, has been quick to salute the rugged Scot's contribution. McCulloch is not afraid to put himself about and mix it. One incident typified his iron resolve.

An opponent lunged his studs straight into McCulloch's groin - the challenge made onlookers wince but the big man got up and dusted himself down.

No prizes for guessing who was first to get his head on the ball from the resultant free kick.

One could picture a certain Alex Ferguson having done the same. Wigan cruised to a comfortable victory.

Andy Liddell marked his Oakwell return with a goal inside a minute and Matt Jackson doubled the lead soon after.

Scott Green headed Wigan's third to round off a comprehensive vitory.

Manager Jewell said: "We started well and were duly rewarded."

For Liddell, it was nice send-off before he starts a three-match suspension.

Wigan will miss him but that man McCulloch is waiting in the wings for yet more active service.

One thing is for sure, Lee will make his presence felt as he did at Oakwell.

Quick review of last night's Morrissey gig at the Barrowlands.  Pretty good, but I would have liked to have heard more Smiths songs!  Quick mention to 'Well fans Brian Anderson and Dougie Youngson who I met before the show.

Time for a new opinion poll!

Who do you blame for the club's current predicament?
