Well I never. It seems we won 3-0 at Pittodrie this afternoon, our biggest win there since the 1950s apparently! I wasn't at the game myself, but it sounds like we produced an excellent performance and thoroughly deserved the win. Despite all the recent speculation, Stephen Pearson started the match in a side unchanged from the one which drew with Rangers a fortnight ago. We took the lead after 10 mins when Stevie Craig flicked a Hammell cross over the Aberdeen goalkeeper, but there was no further scoring in the first half. After the break, it sounds as though Gordon Marshall kept the Dons at bay with a few impressive stops, before Pearo clinched the win in 77 mins with a seemingly brilliant 30 yard run and shot into the corner of the net. Then in injury time, Keith Lasley added a third with a deflected effort to round off a fantastic day for Motherwell. This season just keeps on getting better. It seems almost unbelievable that we are only at the start of November and we have already recorded our third away win (and clean sheet) of the campaign. Perhaps some of the talk of a top six spot is premature, but much more importantly we are now a whopping THIRTEEN points clear of Partick Thistle! Team
(4-4-2): Marshall, Corrigan, Partridge, Craigan, Hammell, Adams, Leitch, Lasley,
Pearson, Clarkson (Dair 47), Craig. Booked: Craig Attendance: 9,895.
Terry Butcher's port-match comments were as follows:
The latest on the Stephen Pearson front is that Celtic boss Martin O'Neill has confirmed he had made an enquiry for the Scotland Under-21 International. Pearso's contract expires in the summer and he is available to talk to interested clubs in January.
The Under-21s drew 0-0 with Dunfermline at East End Park on Wednesday night, a result which moves us off the bottom of the league table.
