Stephen Pearson made his full Scotland debut against Holland at Hampden on Saturday when he came on as a substitute for Neil McCann with 20 mins to go.  I was lucky enough to be at the game and to be honest Pearo struggled to make much of an impact, although he did have one shot which went just wide late on.

Pearo's reaction after the game was as follows:
"It doesn't get any better than this. I thought I was only in the squad for experience but it was a dream come true to get on.  Berti (Vogts) just told me to go on and play against Seedorf. It was a great team performance and I'm delighted for Berti because he's been criticised in the past.  It was daunting coming into the game against Seedorf as I've watched him on TV for years and I know he's a world-class player.  But there was nothing to lose and the result has now given us a great chance to qualify."

Terry Butcher said today that the increased interest in Pearo following his Scotland cap could force the club to sell him during the January transfer window:
"He is out of contract at the end of the season and a lot of people are allegedly interested.  Obviously if he gets Scotland caps his stock rises. He is a very good player who can take people on at pace.  He is a quality player who can play at the top level in my opinion. People may think they can take him for nothing, but there are supposedly a lot of clubs interested and we've had one or two inquiries.  He may well go in January, and if that's the case that's the case, but what he is doing is playing well and helping Motherwell do well.

"We are in control of the situation because we have him under contract, so we will have to wait and see.  All we can do is keep on playing him, getting him right and if he produces the form he's been showing everyone will come out as a winner."

Scotland's goalscorer on Saturday, a certain James McFadden esquire, urged his former Motherwell team-mates to leave Fir Park when he spoke to the press after the game:
"Pearson would do well. He's been attracting attention and is in the limelight because he deserves to be not because I'm away and there's no one else.  He played well last season and has continued to play consistently well. If he moves maybe the spotlight will fall on some of the other guys who have been doing the business in recent months.  Hammell is another with a big future and although he's not been getting much attention, he's done well this season.  There are many good young players in Scotland who deserve a chance. And I don't think there's a massive gap in quality between them and players in England perhaps those down here are just a bit stronger and fitter."

Stevie Hammell played for Scotland Under-21s in their 2-0 defeat in Croatia last night.  The return leg of the Euro Qualifier is at Easter Road tomorrow night.

Young Motherwell defender William Kinniburgh has gone on loan to First Division side Ayr Utd until January.

Well done to Ricky Mullen, Peter Elder, Geoff 'Baby' Nicholson, Keith Brown, David Tonner, David 'Frazzle' Fraser and Alan Burrows who did Motherwell proud when they appeared as the Fans of the Week on Sky's Soccer AM on Saturday.  Hopefully one of them took a few photos of the Soccerette that I can stick up on the site...
