Today's Sun reports that Rangers have joined the queue of clubs interested in signing James McFadden when the transfer window re-opens in January.  Andy Watson watched the 19-year-old in the recent home match with Aberdeen, and apparently Rangers rate Faddy at £1.5m.

Both Stevie Hammell and James McFadden started last night's Scotland Under-21 game against Ghana, which Scotland won 2-0.  Hammell played the entire 90 mins, while Faddy was subbed just after half-time.  He will join up with senior squad today for the match with Canada, and Scotland boss Berti Vogts gave the following explanation for Faddy's apparent demotion:
"Why should I give McFadden a game? That would not be fair on Thompson and Crawford who worked so very hard for the team in Iceland.  We need them both also to help win defensive headers at free-kicks and corners. So I have spoken to Rainer Bonhof and told him to play McFadden in the Under-21s. He needs that international experience.  It is better he does that than stay with us to play for maybe only one or two minutes."

Time for a new opinion poll!

Should Steve Woods be replaced when the transfer window reopens?
